A Woman without Gossiping is like eating without drinking

           

   

         Gossip or ghibah is a despicable trait that we often do, consciously or unconsciously. There is even or almost no gathering in an assembly without gossip or what we call backbiting. Among the two groups or two groups that are most intense in gossiping are women. Because they tend to be chatty and envious, many of them talk about the good or the bad of a person.

In the Qur’an Surah Al Hujurat verse 12 “And let not some of you look for the bad things of people and gossip about one another. Is there anyone among you who likes to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Then of course you feel disgusted with him. And fear Allah.” We can see that backbiting is a bad thing to do and we need to avoid it.

The prohibition of gossip was also conveyed by several scholars as conveyed by Imam Tirmidhi which reads “Whoever restrains gossip against his brother, then Allah will save his face from the fire of hell later on the Day of Resurrection”. We can think for a moment if we remember the sin that comes from gossiping, namely eating the carcass of our own brother and what we feel is of course very ticklish and disgusting.

Gossip also has an influence, both for the gossiper and the person being gossiped about, among which the backbiter will get a sin and the person who is made the material or the person who is gossiped about may be avoided or disliked by others if what is being gossiped about is bad things about him. This backbiting is very detrimental, besides we waste time interfering with other people, we will also get sin, cause envy or jealousy and affect us to have hasad nature.

It would be better if we avoid this trait if we are invited to gossip about people, it is better for us to change the topic in a discussion that is not useful or a discussion that brings us closer to the power or other positive things. Hopefully this little scribble can make us realize how despicable this one despicable character is.
